Suicide That Sparked a Revolution

Mohamed Bouazizi, I will not forget you. Different battles and tragedies are being fought, but I remember. The memory of one man, younger than I, whom with his fiery immolation, sparked a raging wildfire that spread across the land. Millions awoke from their trance. If only the pawns of heartless, capitalistic hegemony in the U.S. would wise up. Oppressed, like you, Mohamed, but stagnant with apathetic masses that don’t care. Corporate run media and state institutions tighten their grip progressively on our freedom and minds. But I think of you, and in spite of pain and sorrow, I smile. You have done much in your short life. Thank you.
